Individual Psychotherapy for Growth and Wellbeing

Think of Breyta like a gym for your mind. You might go to the gym to work on an issue you're unhappy with, but you also go to enhance things.  If you're considering this treatment option then you're most likely ready to invest in personal growth.

What Is Personal Growth and Wellness Psychology?

Personal growth is an aspect of psychological health that is just as important as treating mental health problems. There are many realms of personal growth, such as mental, emotional, physical, social, and spiritual wellness. Growth in these domains involves developing your awareness and self-knowledge, building skills, improving behavior and outlook, emphasizing strengths, and nurturing personal qualities. Not surprisingly, the mental (including intellectual and occupational) and emotional realms serve as the foundation upon which the other areas rest.

While psychotherapy for mental health problems can take you from feeling “bad” to feeling “good” again, psychotherapy for mental wellness can take you from feeling “good” to feeling “great”. This is a specialty called wellness psychology, which emphasizes the promotion of psychological health, rather than merely the prevention of psychological distress. We offer care designed to help you actualize your potential. There is a deep well of capacity within you that deserves to be activated and expressed.

According to the American Psychological Association (APA) Dictionary of Psychology, wellness is defined as: “A dynamic state of physical, mental, and social wellbeing.” This concept is a well-established one, as the Greek philosopher Thales of Miletus wrote about the importance of “a sound mind in a sound body.” Modern researchers and clinicians have viewed wellness as the result of four key factors over which an individual has some control: biology (i.e., body condition and fitness), environment, lifestyle, and health care management. There is no doubt that mental and physical wellbeing are inherently related and that overall wellness is contingent upon their synergy. Therapy for psychological wellness can help you identify and address opportunities for growth within these realms.

Close your eyes and imagine the best version of you possible. That’s who you really are, let go of any part of you that doesn’t believe it.
