Prioritize Your Mental Health! Join Our Expert-Led Mental Health Wellness Group in Raleigh, NC!

Navigating life's challenges with resilience is crucial. We don’t believe in toxic positivity. It’s not realistic to have “good vibes only.” There are waves in the ocean. So how do you cope when it feels like you’re still recovering from previous waves and new ones keep coming? What does it actually mean to “‘be resilient”? It doesn’t mean you don’t get knocked down, or that it isn’t difficult when that happens. Actual resilience is about learning how to flex so that you can move with the waves instead of getting pummeled, and get back up a bit easier. Our evidence-based Mental Health Wellness Group, led by Dr. Katherine Bracken, a doctoral-level clinical psychologist specializing in DBT and trauma-informed care, offers the support you need.

Our group helps you learn how to soothe yourself when you feel upset or distressed, prepare for difficult times, increase the likelihood that you will be successful in your goals and relationships in the future, change your relationship to your inner dialogue and emotions, and improve your interpersonal connections. We can’t waive a magic wand and make every problem in your life go away (we sure would if we could!) but we can give you the tools and confidence to meet those problems head on so that you can tackle life with a renewed sense of agency and joy. That’s a pretty good place to be.

Mental Health & Support Groups for Adults in NC

Online Group Therapy in NC

Group Therapy is led by our doctoral-level psychologists in North Carolina, and is also offered in other states on a virtual basis depending on licensure. Participating in a mental health therapy group is a powerful way to help yourself work through difficult problems and gain support for issues that may have felt isolating or overwhelming in the past. It might be something you’re trying for the first time to start addressing your mental health. It may also be a tool you use to augment and enhance existing mental health care, such as therapy or medication management. However you choose to use group therapy, it will be something you will not regret as it will be a point in your life that marks a growth edge. Therapy groups teach you that you are not alone; that you are stronger than you know; and teach you skills to be equipped to meet life on life’s terms so that you set goals and reach them.

Like other forms of online therapy, our telehealth groups offer you safe and convenient treatment options from a location of your choice, such as your office or home. The obvious difference between group therapy and other forms of psychotherapy, such as individual therapy or couples therapy, is that you are participating in psychotherapy with many other individuals. Typically the average group is around 8-10 individuals, but may be smaller or larger depending on the nature of the group. The benefit of working with others is that you get to hear them share, which can help you feel validated and less alone in your experience; knowing that you are not the only one who has had this type of experience and that you aren’t going through it by yourself. Group members will also provide valuable feedback, perspective, and insight that will help you see yourself and your situation in a new light. It can also decrease your sense of isolation, as interacting and “being with” others helps you feel less alone, even if you aren’t speaking much. You’ll gain a source of social support from the group, as there will be a cohort of individuals with a shared experience who can come together to support each other. Our online therapy groups in NC teach concrete coping skills that you can use to benefit your everyday life. Finally, our online therapy groups are evidence-based and cost-effective. Group therapy is less expensive than individual therapy, so it can be a helpful way to open the door to change.
